About the Band

Matt has been an instrumentalist for over 25 years. As a former middle and high school band/choir teacher holding a bachelor’s in music education, Matt can play just about any instrument he can get his hands on. In SoundBox, you'll see him rocking out on the saxophone, keyboard, and guitar. He learned to sing in high school choir and jazz choir, refining his technique through college and now as as a vocalist in SoundBox. At college he performed in the Rocky Mountain Saxophone Quartet around the Denver area and performed on Denver's Jazz radio station KUVO on tenor saxophone. Currently, Matt is the conductor the CU Anschutz Community Orchestra, helping bring the healing power of music to the medical professionals and community members of the Anschutz Medical Campus.

Steven Ray Fitzgerald played drums throughout his school years and after college hit the road traveling all over the US and Europe. Playing in clubs six nights a week for many years, Steven honed his chops to the point where he could stretch out and create original music. He spent the late 90's working with bands while writing, recording, and performing original music out of his studios in Denver and L.A.

Over the next few years, he recorded and played live with various artists. The "Saxon Woods" CD was voted the best local recording by Westword. Steven then toured with master guitarist Phil Brown and played on three of Phil's albums. He also played with the American band, The New Darlin's, and released a live CD. Since then, he has done session work and live performances culminating in the 2018 release of "The Gary Dean Smith Project featuring Xpansion of Sum". This album is still on the jazz charts today. Steven performed on the 2020 release of Fifty Dollar Friends CD, "In Black and White". In 2022 he began playing with SoundBox as a welcome addition to the band with his talent and experience.

Then from 1981-1986 he was the lead guitar/vocalist for Paragon, known throughout the state with originals being played on major radio stations. Paragon released an album with 12 songs that Mike authored/copyrighted on the album titled “Gonna Getcha”. In the 1990s he played in a country band called Richochet for 3 years and in 2005 he joined Renegade as the bass player, eventually switching to guitar.
